Medicinal Uses:

For controlling Epileptic fits, seizures and convulsions.

Medicinal properties:

Alterative ( Restores and balances normal bodily functions), Antibacterial, Antimicrobial, Anticonvulsant, Expectorant, Antipyretic and Diuretic


Traditional uses:


  1. The fruits are extremely bitter. They are lightly crushed so that the fruit opens up and the seeds are expelled. The fruits are then dried and used either for garnishing or for making a bitter, sour and spicy gravvy. Integrating these berries in the diet and taking them ocassionally helps tone the immune system, the digestive system and also keeps bacterial and viral infections at bay.

  2. 20-30 ml of Decoction of the berries and flowers can be taken to control cough ( Care should be taken not to overdose as the decoction is quite potent and has to be used with caution)
