Feeling Weak and Vulnerable? How about some AtiBala.


The Corona war cries have instilled fear in the hearts of many. However, it is just one of the new threats that has been added to a list of hundreds that coexist with us and threaten us only when our defences are compromised.


Moreover, nature has a solution for most of our fears. In the next few blogs, I will share details about those plants, herbs and supplements that will prepare our internal defences to take on any pathogen.


Before we get started with the benefits of the herb called as Atibala, let me point out to you that a weapon with the same name and similar properties has been mentioned in an ancient Indian scripture .

The name Atibala is mentioned in the Ramayana as a Mantra that could endow strength, knowledge, beauty and power to win over any demon ( read- Virus, Bacteria, Fungi and other pathogens) that dare attack the one empowered by Bala and Atibala. Most of the ancient scriptures have been found to contain cryptic messages and it could be Valmiki's way of sharing the powers of a herb that goes by the same name and does exactly the same thing.


‘Atibala’ in Sanskrit, translates to 'Very Strong'. This herb has the power to increase your strength in a holistic manner. Traditional Uses:


1. Whole plant extract has immunomodulatory effect. It helps tone up the immune system and thereby increase resistance to infectious diseases. It is also a very powerful adaptogen and will help your body adapt to stressors and stressful conditions.

2. A decoction of the leaves can be used for toothache and painful gums.

3. Seeds, help soothe the digestive system, and is an excellent laxative that also helps alleviate bleeding and pain in those suffering from piles.

4. Decoction of the leaves is used to treat stomach infections, intestinal bleeding, ulcers and also liver related complaints.

5. Culinary use: A Chutney made of fresh tender leaves along with Coconut, Punarnava, Coriander and ginger helps address headaches as well as indigestion, bloating and gastric upset.
